Should I cut out the Diet Coke? Or just not drink as much?

Coke Zero > Diet but if you can't stand Zero, just don't drink as much as Diet.

Don't know how to swim? I'd offer to teach you but I think that's a long way to travel

Yeah, that's a long way to travel. But I'm okay just staying in the shallow end. I don't really go out to pools much, anyway.

Its okay. If you suck in a whole bunch of air before you drown, lay your body out, the air in your body and the surface area of your body spread out will work out and the bouyancy of the water will actually keep you afloat.
There is no shame in doggie paddling either!

Squid-like? I've heard frog-like, but not squid. Interesting way of putting it. And meg, once you know how to swim (if you're planning on learning), you'll enjoy it. The idea of swimming used to repulse me, but now I make use of the pool that I used to neglect. You don't have to be swimming laps either, just playing around in the water to keep it fun.

Swimming is the best exercise, too, 'cause you don't even know you're doing it. Mind, laps are pretty telling, but just mucking around is Sneaky Fitness.

I don't really want to learn. I'm perfectly capable just staying in the shallow end.

If that's what you want.

Ugh...I have to wait another hour before my mom'll leave work to pick me up and then another half hour after that so she'll get here.
When I get home I'm going to nap. Stupid light-headedness...stupid D on my speech. Grr.

Exactly. Like maybe if you're on a boat and it starts to sink in the middle of the ocean or something. You never know.

I don't go on boats. I never really go that far from the shallow end and I rarely go in lakes. I'm that adult that still uses an inner tube to go to the deep end.
