Moldova should have won for their unicyclist!  And yeah, Lena's pretty awesome, but the song just wasn't as cool as Satellite, which I really enjoyed last year. I'm just bummed I didn't go to a Eurovision party this time around. Yes, Australia has Eurovision parties. And we have unofficial votes for our winners conducted by the broadcasting channel, haha. Ireland won in our eyes. Then Greece, though we have a giant Greek population so you can pretty much always discount that part of the scorecard. Funny thing is, Azerbaijan came last. |

The Eurovision Song Contest! Tsk. Just the best thing ever. They tried to do an Asia-Pacific one that Australia was in but nobody paid any attention to it, I don't think. It's basically like American Idol except they sing original songs and are representing countries. And they all seem to be stuck in 90's pop.

Holy Moly who hasn't heard of Eurovision! Look it up on YouTube it's HILARIOUS! Basically there's like 40 odd competing countries, though only 24 get through to the semi's, and they all sing and then the other countries vote.
It's the cheesiest thing you'll ever see and it's a HUGE pile of political Bullcrap because everyone just votes for their neighbours rather than the best song eg. Spain, France Portugal give each other the top vote *every* year no matter how rubbish it is. We NEVER win or even come close because everyone that's in Europe that isn't the UK, hates the UK. Even Ireland.

Yeah, I think they just stream it online for you poor countries that don't pay attention to it We televise it in full, lol. Priorities! Woo! Also, Lems, I can't remember which thread you mentioned Americano in, but my God I'm loving it pretty fierce right now. |
