I thought they had Rowling quoted that she would never write another Harry Potter because it was totally done. Is that in my head?

I'm really thankful that SM created characters that are so fun to play with....

Hmm, I might have to disagree with you slightly on Stephanie Meyer's writing there.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Host; it was far more complex than Twilight and was fairly well-written.
I think Meyer kind of diarrhea shat Twilight out, because it was more of her own personal fanfic than anything else. She plagiarized the thesaurus in her attempt to describe Edward's uber-awesomness in every way humanely possible. And we all know that Bella is secretly Stephanie Meyer's young self. . .
So yes, we've become Beta's with unlimited artistic license.
Oh, anddd; I'm not feeling a sequel from Rowling. What do you do when you've changed the world and reached the top? - Absolutely nothing. She should leave, a winner.

I found The Host to have similarities to Twilight. You've got the same love triangle, only in this one the 'Bella' picks the 'Jacob' instead of the 'Edward.' Basically she was eithe subcoinsiously or knowingly trying to make up for all of the Team Jacob people.

It's just another copy of the Book of Mormon, unfortunately. Though to be fair, I haven't read it.

I agree. Having spoken to a devout Mormon this summer, their view on marriage was clearly evident in the portrayal of the Bella, Edward relationship

mhmm, it's fun here because there are so many disillusioned Mormons that apparently migrated from Utah and Phoenix. So not only do they know about it, they don't mind making fun of it all.

The Mormon community mocks the Twilight series about it's mormon-ness?

I wouldn't doubt that, reason number #231 why Meyer is in hiding.

She's in hiding? And speaking of being the closet, isn't Stephanie married? Sorry, but I'm out of touch with stuff.

I AM mormon, though not a good one. Our elders frigging droned on and on NOT to read the Twilight books, which of course made me immediately go out and get them. By my churches own dictates I am damned to hell (We don't really have hell as the rest of the world knows it) and so is Meyer. There is absolutely no question in my mind there was a very strong lesbian subtext between Alice and Bella. I also feel there was one between Rosalie and Bella, I mean my goodness why did Bella keep going back for more abuse from her? On a different point (without giving spoilers) one of the evil characters seems to be Eragon's father. His adoptive uncle is killed prompting him to seek the aid of an old man most think are crazy but turns out to be a jedi, oops former dragon rider. The mentor is conveniently killed but Eragon meets a likable rogue, Han Solo, oops I mean Murtaugh, Princess Leia is unobtainable, shit I meant Arya so they rescue her.
Do I need to go on?

Want to carpool down to hell together? I have 6 seats open if anyone else needs a ride Mhmm, those are the basic tenants of the Hero's Journey. Done very, very predictably.
