Nope, I'm good.
Never seen Avatar either. And I don't want to.
Lys, I've read Eragon. Loved it. Hated the movie version, loved Eldest and Brisngr (I think I might've spelled that wrong) and I'm eagerly awaiting the next one.

Avatar you can miss, but Star Wars is a classic that has to be seen. I'll come out there and force you to watch it

But the HP boom was before five years ago, which was the time period that you said the YA growth was in. All the books mentioned were published in the early 2000's. And those are just the successful ones.
Separate catalysts, man. Separate results. Both contributed to a growth, though a growth in distinct areas of YA fiction. Also at different times.
I'm not sure why I'm arguing this. My bad.
Three cheers for reading?

That doesn't mean that HP didn't start it, again it was one of the first YA published (very successfully in Hardback). Here's the article I'm getting most of my info from.

HP starting it wasn't what was being discussed. Twilight can be claimed as a response to HP, an attempt to cash in on the female side of the HP interest. But Twilight itself had a completely separate effect on the YA market, at a completely different time. This recent YA growth is Twilight related growth, and only by extension, HP related growth. They are not simultaneous.

No they're not, one is the earthquake the other is the tsunami. Definitely related, but mutually independent events.

There are so many others, Vampire Academy novels have sold 13 million copies, House of Night is up there. Those who call this a fad have ignored the constant success of the Anne Rice novels over four decades. Dracula has been in movies over 50 times. People love supernatural stories, always have, always will.
