I came across a story to-day that had, like,360 reviews after five chapters. So I think to myself, this must be really, really good. It's 12,000 some odd words, five chapters with 360+ reviews, Jesus H. Christ in a fucking chicken basket this must be the best story ever! Right? Wrong. The story used to be much longer, not sure how much but it was considerable. The author had removed the entire story and started over, keeping the reviews. It might not have upset me except the story was a comedy and one I did not find to be particularly funny. I can forgive nearly any sin except for unfunny comedy. Anyway the whole thing felt like cheating to me, like I'd been hoodwinked into spending 45 minutes of my time reading something I never would have read otherwise.

Yeah, that does feel like cheating. If you want to show your true amount of reviews, start a new story. Don't get rid of it just to get more.
Sounds like they're review hungry to me.

Which is why I'm scrapping Siren's and starting over.

I don't really think it's review hoarding. They may want people who had the story originally alerted/faved to be updated with the new stuff, because they're already sure bets for showing interest Don't focus too much on the amount of reviews, mate. It's never an indication of story quality, because people have different standards/tastes. Especially (no offense to anyone) on FF.net.

Azb's right. She doesn't have near enough reviews to represent the kickass quality of her work on there. Case in point.

Hey, I don't do it to get in her good favors. I do it because it's the truth and getting her embarrassed/pissy is totally worth it.

JT's stars are big. Can I ask why? Will my stars go down to five but become humongous like JT's once I reach 600 posts?

No, you get more stars until 1k and then they are replaced with red ones. The decrease in size is so they fit in one row.

So, I'll have around ten stars at 999 posts, but then it'll go down a few stars and turn red?
Your stars are as big as JT's. So, is that a Mod thing?

JT, now people are gonna think I was talking about myself. I totally wasn't, guys. It was just a fact. Review count will always almost reflect story length, providing the writing isn't incomprehensible and there's enough sexual tension to keep all the teenage girls (and boys, haha) going. Though length of time online also affects it. Update rapidly, and most reviewers will leave it in the latest updated chapter, update over a huge period of time and readers will stop reviewing in the same numbers, because they lose interest. There are other trends that I've left out, but I figure my 'Study on the Mysterious and Elusive Reviewing Habits of the Common Reader' might be too long for you guys to read. (And thanks, JT )
