Roonie's first review
Well, I've gotta say that I was actually enjoying this fic right up until I read the A/N here at the end of chapter six...well, I tried to read it. Most of it was incomprehensible due to errors. I must say that I'm a little surprised at the nasty attitude you have for your readers. If someone took the time to mention the grammar/spelling mistakes, it's because they liked your story enough to want to help improve it. Anyone can read a story for a few chapters and quit because of a bad plot, etc. But if the story is truly good, if they've really gotten caught up in the character's lives...then it's something they feel invested in and it's worth overlooking certain things. But there's NOTHING wrong with leaving a review with constructive criticism. And if you had even an ounce of maturity as a writer and as a human being, you would accept the criticim graciously. You don't have to do whatever they say, and you certainly don't have to take on a beta if you don't want to, but there's no reason to be so rude about it.

This story is very promising and I do love Alice/Bella, but at this point, I am WAY too put off by you to continue reading. I suppose I should thank you for showing your true colors this early and saving me from investing myself even further into the fic.

I'm not real sure what your axe to grind with sweetestsuicide is but I felt it was worth my time to point out a few things to you dear Roonie. I've come to know her after a fashion via PM's on here and she is a very kind soul. Yes English is not her first language and no she does not like using a beta reader, (Though she and I have discussed the possibility of me performing that very service for her) however if you look at 90% of the submissions on here, from people whom english IS allegedly their first language, hers is as good grammatically as most of them.
What I'm getting at is there is NEVER any call for things such as referring to someone as something like a "snot-nosed little brat of a teenager", (btw snot nosed should not be hyphenated, that's...poor english) that's being hurtful just because someone disagrees with you.
That dear Roonie makes you, in my opinion, a very small person indeed.

Well, if the review/AN in question was indeed constructive criticism, and SS replied poorly to it, I'd say Roonie is justified in addressing it, but also has no real grounds for being rude. No one does. I haven't read said review or A/N but in my opinion, offense should not be taken to constructive criticism. However, Roonie did go too far by using insults instead of just stating facts. It was nice of you to come to her aid. I can only hope it doesn't further set Roonie off to be even more belligerent.

To me, the rest of what he said was at least bordering on constructive, but what I've quoted is terribly out of line. There's never a call to be that snide to anyone. Like JT, I didn't see the A/N so I don't know what, if any, basis in truth there was.

I thought the first review was fair enough, though rude, but they wanted to point out something that they considered important.

The second was completely uncalled for.

Someone had stated out the obvious that I needed a beta. They're not the only one, and sometimes I get them you know but I just wanted people that also want to tell me that I need a beta, I just write an A/N stating why I don't really need it;

Thank you for all the reviews. And thank you for Daka for stating out the obvious. To be honest, you're not the only one that have noticed that. But here is something...

I don't want a beta reader. Having a beta reader means I'd have to wait for the chapter to be perfect with perfect grammar and spelling and other crap. That would mean if I finished the chapter, I would probably have to wait one day or two day or even weeks to even upload the chapter. I don't want that, my readers wait for my update for longer than it is. Not to mention if they read the story and cares about the grammar and spelling mistakes, why are they are in the first place? It's simple, you read, you like the plot, you continue reading. It's definitely is not you read, you dislike the grammar and spelling mistakes and ditches the plot, and stop reading. If I was an author, sure I'd definitely get an editor to read over my crap and edits it. But since I'm not getting paid for this, I think I'd just do as I please on my chapters. Just know that not many of us are perfect at English and have perfect grades. And even with many of us with English is our first language, since it isn't my first language, there are still mistakes. So, I'll shut up now.

He replied to that, and of course I replied back to him saying something I had totally forgotten. Then he sent me that second response, and I simply replied by 'Thanks for increasing my review' and it made him stop.

Although I thank Sara for sticking up to me. You're awesome.

Yeah at first it seemed like constructive criticism but then it just turned into him or her or teeny bopper, Talking down to SS.

Where is this kid anyway? FF.net? Psh, don't let it get ya down SS there are so many trolls and idiots that say stuff like that you can just let it roll off your back. Don't feed the trolls unless you want them to grow.

Also Ivs you were completely Justified and this looks like a job for a lurker on FF.net like me to find this kid and watch him to see what else happens. I don't like it when good writers get dissed. It's what caused me to stop writing for a time a while ago and I don't want it to happen to others.

But, SS, you are attempting to make your spelling and grammar perfect, right? I mean, I definitely doubt that you're one to hide behind the second language excuse and be lazy about it. So, as long as effort is being made for perfection, don't have a beta. Other than that...I would get one and let the readers deal with the wait. Sorry.

Yea I'm attempting to make my spelling and grammar perfect, I even use dictionary.com and the MS Word spelling and grammar check for it. I just don't like the wait, it's all. When I read something and it's getting really interesting, I don't really want to wait for it since I'd mostly forgotten about what it's even about. I could always have one of my friends over here to do it for me since she just loves editing through my stuff, but I'd doubt that she'd even read what I write. So as of now, I'm just okay with my spelling and grammar, even if it's not perfect. No one has perfect grammar or spelling, even the published books have some mistakes, i.e The Immortals. I always thought that it's the story and how interesting it is that it'll get you hooked into it, not the spelling and grammar. Although, text language is so not cool.
