Yeah, I thought that was garbage. Disliked it immensely, hence why I always go for giving Rosalie an actual character in my stuff.
Victoria was portrayed as being weaker than James and a coward who only fought Edward because he egged her on, not to mention the fact that she was relying on Riley to fight for her, which didn't work out in the end. Jane seemed to be the only female character with actual backbone, but I would imagine that if it was not for her gift, she would not fight nor would she do much of anything at all for that matter. The gift saved her.

Rosalie had backbone, garbage or not.

Okay, I'll give Rosalie that much. But the other female characters? Treated like weak dolls that needed to be protected.
I'm sorry. I just can't stand the way they were portrayed. But I don't want to go into rant mode, so I'll cease and desist so that the topic can back on track.

Why Smeyer should have given Bella some backbone:
1. 'Cause then Bella would have had the courage to kick Creepyward's sorry ass to the curb. 2. Instead of crying cause she's hurting her best friend, she might have actually done something about it! 3. We all know that she would have gone after Alice if she wasn't afraid of judgemental homophobic bastards. 4. She wouldn't have gone 'boo-hoo' for six months after Stalkerward left. Seriously, who wants someone there 99.9% of the day!?! 5. She might have had some self-respect.

Meyer Rosalie is terrible from bad writing. But what she gave her is brilliant. She's so wonderfully comes and deep down so caring. Read some of geophf's stories on ff or even mine, just to get different sides. I'm a total Rosalie shipper and promoter if you havent heard

Also bare in mind that you have to deal with an unreliable narrator. Rosalie was a bitch and had mood swings around Bella, supposedly, and then Bella interpreted them to herself and told the reader. We never got to see inside of Rosalie's head, nor did we get to see how she acted behind closed doors.
I think what she did at the end of NM is more telling then a lot of the others when she votes no because she wished someone had done the same for her.

Alright, alright. I agree, it was the writing's fault. I blame Meyer.
I still stand by my other opinion. And yes, Bella needed a backbone.

10 reasons to hate Jacob
1. At first he hates the wolves. 2. Then he loves the wolves (Make up your damn mind) 3. Then he get's all angsty about being a wolf (Bi-polar much?) 4. He never get's the sense in the entire series to go to the bank, get a loan and buy a damned clue, Bella doesn't want to be your girlfriend nimrod. 5. He falls in love with a toddler which is just so...ewwww! 6. He hangs out with vampires, accepts food, clothes and hospitality yet still insults them. 7. He gives Bella orders after repeatedly being told she just wants to be friends. 8. He and his stinky friends corner Bella, the supposed love of his life, at her graduation party and bully her. 9. He tries to pull a fake 'A Tale of Two Cities' stunt to manipulate Bella into kissing him, this after she broke her hand when he basically sexually assaulted her. 10. "Like I could let you leave." This has to be single most sexist, controlling and outright offensive statement ever made by a male in a bestselling novel.
Bonus; He can't have Bella so he cheerfully becomes a borderline pedophile. I can't stress the ewww! factor too much here.

Okay, I got to defend 1 and 2. He didn't like the wolves at first because he wasn't one and he just thought that Sam was up to no good with his gang, and Jake's best friend Embry, and then after he became a wolf he realized they weren't that bad and they were only trying to help him and look after them.
The others I completely agree with. Book Jacob was much more jerkish in my opinion, but movie Jacob still has those jerkish qualities.

Reasons to Severely Dislike Edward:
1. He abandoned his mate even though his clairvoyant sister could tell him how it would destroy her 2. He broods about being a soulless monster 3. He is a hypocrite because MOST religious figures believe that love comes from the SOUL "True love is your soul's recognition of its counterpoint in another" 4. He is demeaning and looks down his nose at poor, weak Bella 5. He tried to take the easy way out by going to Volterra to off himself rather than facing the consequences of his actions and burdening himself with the guilt 6. His Volterra stunt caused his family (who somehow put up with his crap) pain and heartache 7. He ignored Bella's wish to tell Jake about the engagement after the newborn battle and instead was a dick. Edward opted to break a man's heart before said man was to fight in a battle. 8. He tries to kill his own child and again rants that Bella is incapable of making her own decisions 9. In his mind the right decisions are what he wants.
I'm sure there are plenty more, but that's all I could muster right now.
I think it's hard to offer criticism to any character other than Book Edward, Bella, or Jacob because there wasn't enough to go off of for the others.

Reason why I love Alice Cullen ;D
* Because she knows how to make a compliment "You, do smell nice. I never noticed before."
*Because she hugged Bella before Emoward did it
*Because she was the one who came back for Bella in NM
*Because she steals expensive German sportscars
*Because she knows how to throw a party
*Because she loves shopping
*Because she helped Bella showering after the James attack ( sorrry, I know I'm a perv)
*Because Charlie likes her more than her brother

Reasons why I hate Edward.
1. He sparkles. 2. He prances in medows. 3.He left the "love of his life" alone in the woods to die. 4.He watches Bella sleep. (CREEPY) 5.What the hell is wrong with his hair. 6.He left the "love of his life" alone in the woods to die. DIE! SHE COULD HAVE DIED! 7. His "Woe is me" attitude in EVERTHING he does
I'm sure there are more but I don't like thinkin about Edward much so I'm gonna stop there.

High fives to Beguile the Sun and to whome (I totally went off on the whole forest abandoning thing too, nice!). Edward and Jacob hate is so much fun. Hee hee hee.
I think I've gone off on most of the characters that deserved it. Hm...
