Ah, well, that varies from author to author, because there isn't much info on them.
I can't remember everything I have written down for them, as I'm using the school's library right now (and I'll be leaving shortly, so if I'm gone for awhile it's not because I'm trying to bail out of this conversation...maybe ), but I'll try to remember what I can.
There are two breeds of werewolves, ones bitten and ones born. Born werewolves are like shapeshifters only their wolf is the normal size of a wolf, their transformation hurts, and their strength relies on the fullness of the moon. Bitten werewolves are the ones from lore; the crazy psychotic ones you can't help but run away from. They have to be chained so they don't go attacking any humans.
Silver hurts them, and vampires are a big threat to them because they don't smell any different than humans. To negate this, they have their own venom running through their bloodstream, and once a vampire takes a bite, he slowly dies.
This venom in the bloodstream is also used to make born werewolves immortal. They have to drink the blood of another werewolf, immortal, obviously, and in turn, they'll be stuck at the age they are. Bitten werewolves are immortal what-so-ever, stuck at the age they are bitten.
Up until 16, the color of their wolf eye is blue (like puppies) and afterwards it becomes one of four colors, each dignifying a different branch of the werewolf bloodline.
And that's good for now.
